Panasonic Expands TME Catalog with Components for EV Charging Stations

In a bid to fortify the electronic infrastructure supporting electric vehicles (EVs), Panasonic has extended its product lineup available through TME (Transfer Multisort Elektronik). The new additions encompass a diverse range of components meticulously designed for EV charging stations, ensuring high IP rating, mechanical resilience, and electrical efficiency.

As the electric vehicle market experiences unprecedented growth, charging stations are pivotal to the development of a robust EV infrastructure. Manufacturers of electronic solutions, in collaboration with esteemed suppliers like Panasonic, are actively engaged in producing components that adhere to stringent standards. The evolving Panasonic product offerings in the TME catalogue include an array of component groups tailored for electric vehicles and their charging infrastructure.

    Capacitors for EV Charging Stations

Panasonic’s capacitor lineup stands out as a key player in enhancing the performance of EV chargers, particularly in control and communication systems and converters. The capacitors, featuring low equivalent series resistance (ESR), extended service life of up to 20,000 hours, and the ability to handle high currents exceeding 10 A, come in three main families: OS-CON, POSCAP, and SP-CAP.

    OS-CON Capacitors:

Using aluminium and highly conductive polymer technologies, OS-CON capacitors boast extended service life and low ESR. Available for both SMD and THT mounting, these capacitors operate efficiently in harsh environmental conditions, making them ideal for use in EV charging stations.

    POSCAP Capacitors (Polymer Tantalum Capacitors):

Featuring low ESR values for high signal frequencies and compact size, POSCAP capacitors are suitable for voltages up to 35 V. With a wide operating temperature range (-55 to 105°C), these capacitors find application in digital, communication, and control circuits within EV charging stations.

    SP-CAP Capacitors (Polymer Capacitors):

Known for their excellent current parameters, SP-CAP capacitors are perfect for converters and applications requiring effective filtering of ripple currents. Their small size and SMD packages contribute to creating compact and efficient circuits, making them an ideal choice for space-constrained EV charging stations.

    Power Inductors with AEC-Q200 Certification

Panasonic’s power inductors, certified under AEC-Q200, meet rigorous standards for automotive electronics. With inductance ranging from 330 nH to 100 µH and thermal tolerance from -40°C to 150°C, these SMD components are suitable for critical automotive circuits, including filters and DC/DC switched-mode converters.

SNAP ACTION Microswitches for Enhanced Functionality

The ABS series of SNAP-ACTION microswitches by Panasonic offer low actuation force, rapid opening/closing of contacts, and a lever for easy installation in non-standard locations in some models. In EV charging stations, these microswitches play a crucial role in detecting moments such as the contact returning to its resting position or the connector locking into the car socket.

Featuring an IP67 protection rating, the ABS microswitches are resistant to dust, humidity, and water ingress, making them suitable for challenging environmental conditions. Their contacts, nickel-, silver-, or gold-plated depending on the model, ensure corrosion resistance and an extended service life of up to 5,000,000 cycles.

As Panasonic continues to enhance its offerings within the TME catalogue, the collaboration aims further to strengthen the foundation of the growing electric vehicle ecosystem. The introduction of high-quality components for EV charging stations underscores the commitment to advancing sustainable transportation solutions.
