German luxury carmaker BMW has launched its third EV offering for the country- the fully electric i4 sedan at an introductory price of INR 69.90 lakh (ex-showroom). The company already offers the iX electric SUV and electric MINI luxury hatchback in the country.
The electric model which will come in a single eDrive 40 variant, will be available through the completely built unit (CBU) route. The car can be booked online at the company website and deliveries will start by the beginning of July 2022.
Based on the company’s CLAR modular architecture, it is equipped with a li-ion battery with a capacity of 80.7 kWh powering the rear axle-mounted electric motor which produces 340hp and 430Nm. It can accelerate from 0-100kph in a claimed 5.7 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 190 kmph.
BMW said, “this car has a range of 590 kilometers more than any other electric vehicle in India”.
The car is offered in three color options- Mineral white metallic, Skyscraper gray metallic, and Black sapphire metallic.
Some of the features in the model include three-zone automatic climate control, LED ambient lighting, a sunroof, reverse parking assist with a camera, and a 17-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system.
